What is CSS?

CSS stands for Central Superior Service (CSS). CSS is a permanent bureaucratic elite authority and a civil service which is responsible for the administration of civil bureaucratic operations and government secretaries and cabinet offices in Pakistan. The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan is the ultimate authority on all matters relating to the civil service. This exam is conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) for the posts of BS-17.

When the CSS test is conducted?

Usually, this test is conducted in February every year. The announcement of the date of the test is done through advertisements.

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for this test is briefly described below:

Nationality:

The candidate must be a citizen of Pakistan or a permanent resident of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Qualification:

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2nd division from a university that is recognized by HEC.
  • A candidate with 3rd division in the Bachelor’s degree can apply for the exam if he/she has secured a higher division in the Master’s degree.

 Age:

  • The age of the candidate should be 21 to 30 years.
  • For the government employees or the candidate belonging to the recognized tribes are relaxed for 2 years more that means such candidates can be of 32 years of age.

How to apply:

  • The date of the CSS exam is announced in September every year.
  • Candidates are advised to submit their application fee in the bank and get the receipt.
  • then apply for the CSS exam by filling the online form available at the official website of FPSC.
  • Download that online form and attach the required documents along with the bank receipt and post it to the headquarters of FPSC Islamabad.

Documents to be attached:

  • Copies of educational documents
  • Photographs
  • Bank receipt of the deposited exam fee
  • Experience certificate if needed for a specific post
  • If applied of relaxation of age limit, then submission of relevant certificate by the concerned authorities
  • The form to be filled is available on the official website of FPSC 

The number of chances to appear in the CSS Exam:

The candidate can appear in this test not more than three times.

Divisions of the Subjects:

All the subjects are divided into 2 categories i.e. Compulsory subjects and Optional Subjects.

There are some subjects that are compulsory each carrying 100 marks and there is a total of 6 subjects making a total of 600 marks.

The other category is of optional subjects. There is a total of 7 groups and the candidate has to select 1 subject from each group.

CSS 2021 IMPORTANT DATES

  • Last Date to Apply Online: 3 November 2020
  • Last Date for receipt of hard copy of online application form with required documents: 13 November 2020
  • Cut-off Date for determining eligibility criteria: 31 December 2020
  • Commencement of CSS 2021 Exam: 18 February 2021

CSS ELIGIBILITY
Both male and female candidates are eligible
Nationality: Pakistani
Education: Graduation (14 years of education) with at least a second division or grade “C”.
Age: 21 – 30 years on 31st of the preceding December.
For example, for CSS-2021 age must be between 21 – 30 years on 31 December 2020.

CUT-OFF DATE FOR ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
A candidate must fulfill the eligibility criteria in terms of age and qualification by December 31st. For example, for CSS-2021,

  1. the candidate must have obtained the required qualification by December 31, 2020.
  2. the candidate must be within age limit on December 31, 2020.

CSS AGE-LIMITS
A candidate for admission to the CSS Examination-2021 must have attained the age of 21 years and MUST NOT have attained the age of 30 years on 31st December, 2020.

CSS FEE STRUCTURE
Rs 2200 for written competitive examination.

CSS EXAM 2020 DETAIL OF REGIONAL QUOTA 

  1. Over all Merit for CSS exam = 7.5%,
  2. CSS exam merit for Punjab = 50%,
  3. CSS exam merit for Sindh = 19%
  4. CSS exam merit for Sindh (Urban) = 7.6%,
  5. CSS exam merit for Sindh (Rural) = 11.4%,
  6. CSS exam merit for Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa = 11.5%,
  7. CSS exam merit for Baluchistan = 6%,
  8. CSS exam merit for GB/FATA = 4%,
  9. CSS exam merit for AJK = 2%.

NOTE:

  1. For woman, 10% quota reserved from the part of Provinces or Regions merit.
  2. For Minorities or NON-Muslim its quota reserved is 5% from Provinces or Regions merit.
  3. No separate quote assigned or fixed for Disabled Candidates. The criteria of disable will be done accordance with the Government Recruitment Policy...
